Dancing Queen

We went to another retirement party this weekend. This time it was for a friend who had been with the library system for thirty-five years. Mamie Harvard Flakes was a receptionist at the Main Library for many, many years. No one entered Main without checking in with Mamie because she knew everyone and what everyone was doing. She was a main source of news (gossip). She was also a bit of a tipster and was sent home on more than one occasion because she tipped a bit too much. The last Director of the Library, Bob Cannon, tried to fire her, but the powers that be in the county would not let him do it, which of course, got everyone to speculating what she knew about them. I, as well as most everyone else, really liked her. After her years at Main, she held the same title at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center She probably nipped a bit the night of her retirement party, because she spent almost the entire time dancing. And I have to say, she is quite the mover.

Dumb Law of the Week: In Montana, it is illegal and a felony for a wife to open her husband's mail.

À la prochaine, mes amis.

Sounds like a character. I can't imagine spending 35 years at the same job...
